ويا باعث الأجسام عوداً كبدئها

ويا باعث الأجسام عوداً كبدئها

وقد فنيت في عالم زخية

وقد فنيت في عالم زخية

O Raiser of bodies, restoring them as they were at first,

And O Resurrector of bodies anew, as at their beginning,

Though they have perished in a world of splendor;

though they have already perished in a realm [unclear word],

ويا باعث الرسل الهداة بدينه

ويا باعث الرسل الهداة بدينه

لينفذ حكم العدل من بعد حجة

لينفذ حكم العدل من بعد حجة

O Sender of the guiding messengers with His religion,

and O Sender of the messengers, guides through His religion,

So that justice’s judgment may be carried out once proof is established;

so that just judgment may take effect after proof is given,

ويا باعث الأفعال كسباً من الورى

ويا باعث الأفعال كسباً من الورى

بخلق الدواعي فيهم والارادة

بخلق الدواعي فيهم والارادة

O Mover of the creatures’ deeds, which they acquire,

and O You who prompt deeds as acts acquired by humankind,

By creating within them motives and will;

by creating within them impulses and the will,

ويا باعثاً في الذنب بالتوب عبده

ويا باعثاً في الذنب بالتوب عبده

وباعثه في عجزه بالمعونة

وباعثه في عجزه بالمعونة

O You who rouse His servant, when in sin, through repentance,

and O Awakener of His servant, amid sin, through repentance,

And rouse him, in his helplessness, through aid;

and his Awakener, in his helplessness, through aid,

ويا باعث الأرواح بالعلم والهدى

ويا باعث الأرواح بالعلم والهدى

ببعثك سارت في هداها وحلت

ببعثك سارت في هداها وحلت

O Quickener of spirits through knowledge and guidance,

and O Awakener of souls through knowledge and guidance,

By Your quickening they journeyed in their guidance and alighted;

through Your quickening they journeyed in their guidance and settled.

ببعثك في ساحات توحيدك ارتقت

ببعثك في ساحات توحيدك ارتقت

لك الهمم العليا وتاقت وحنت

لك الهمم العليا وتاقت وحنت

By Your quickening, in the expanses of Your oneness, there rose

Through Your quickening, in the courts of Your oneness, rose

To You the loftiest aspirations: they yearned and longed;

the loftiest aspirations to You, yearning and longing.

ببعثك صفو السر من هوس الهوى

ببعثك صفو السر من هوس الهوى

ببعثك صفو الفعل عن دنسية

ببعثك صفو الفعل عن دنسية

By Your quickening comes the inward secret’s purity from passion’s delusion,

Through Your quickening, the inmost self is purified of desire's frenzy.

By Your quickening comes the deed’s purity from defilement;

Through Your quickening, action is purified of defilement.

أقمني بسر البعث في غفلة الهوى

أقمني بسر البعث في غفلة الهوى

ورق ببعث السر في اللّه همتي

ورق ببعث السر في اللّه همتي

Establish me, through the secret of quickening, amid passion’s heedlessness,

Set me upright through the mystery of quickening amid desire's heedlessness,

And raise my aspiration through the inward secret’s awakening in God;

and, through the inmost self's quickening, elevate my aspiration in God.

أجب دعوتي فارج الحزن مطلقاً

أجب دعوتي فارج الحزن مطلقاً

ويا باعث الخيرات من كل وجهة

ويا باعث الخيرات من كل وجهة

Answer my prayer, O dispeller of sorrow, without reserve;

Answer my prayer, O You who dispel sorrow utterly,

O Bringer of blessings from every direction,

and O Bringer of blessings from every direction.

افض لي فيض الجو من بعثة الرضا

افض لي فيض الجو من بعثة الرضا

وقوم لما فيه مراضيك بعثتي

وقوم لما فيه مراضيك بعثتي

Pour forth for me the open expanse’s abundance from the awakening of contentment,

Pour forth for me the sky's outpouring from the stirring of contentment,

And direct my awakening toward all that pleases You;

and set my awakening aright for what pleases You.

ومن لي بدرك الفوز حيث يفوتني

ومن لي بدرك الفوز حيث يفوتني

من الباعث القيوم بعث العناية

من الباعث القيوم بعث العناية

And who can gain me the attainment of triumph when it eludes me—

And who can secure me triumph when I lack

Save an awakening of providential care from the Ever-Sustaining Raiser?

the quickening of care from the Awakener, the Ever-Sustaining?
