And O Living One, alive by Your own essence before all things,

without any need on Your part for vitality.

And O Living One, whose life is none other than Yourself,

for otherwise the Essence would depend on an attribute.

And O Living One, who gives every living being its life—

a figurative life, while You Yourself live in truth.

And O Living One, whose life has no beginning,

and no end can overtake eternity.

And O Living One, before existence and its opposite—

the two are relations of creation and the withholding of will.

And O Living One, who revives the soul after its passing away,

and resurrects the selfsame being of the first creation.

And O Living One, who revives the earth after its death,

with no influence from nature in Your creation.

My life has passed in deluded trust in outward appearances,

and in calamity, with a thousand calamities in its wake.

My life has passed while I was ignorant and feigned ignorance,

wading and playing among the objects of my lust.

Pour forth for me, from the overflow of Your name the Living, something reviving

that hastens my resurrection from the grave of wretchedness,

pours down the rain of mysteries, light, and guidance,

and breathes the spirit of knowledge into my human nature.
