O You whose Essence is exalted in His omnipotence,

And O One whose essence is exalted in His might,

above deficiency, afflictions, and evils;

Beyond imperfection, afflictions, and wickedness;

ويا متعالي الذات حيث وجوبه

ويا متعالي الذات حيث وجوبه

وتنزيهه عن مطلق الفطرية

وتنزيهه عن مطلق الفطرية

O You whose Essence is exalted in its necessary being,

And O One whose essence is exalted in the necessity of His being,

and in its transcendence beyond every created nature;

And in His transcendence beyond all natural constitution;

ويا متعالي الذات حيث علوه

ويا متعالي الذات حيث علوه

على كل شيء باقتدار ورفعة

على كل شيء باقتدار ورفعة

O You whose Essence is exalted in its elevation

And O One whose essence is exalted in His supremacy

above all things, in might and sublimity;

Over everything, through power and eminence;

ويا متعالي الذات للذات نفسه

ويا متعالي الذات للذات نفسه

فأين اضافاتي ونعتي ومدحتي

فأين اضافاتي ونعتي ومدحتي

O You whose Essence is exalted through the Essence itself—

And O One transcendent in essence, in and of Himself,

where, then, are my ascriptions, my descriptions, and my praise?

Where, then, are my attributions, my description, and my praise?

ويا متعالي الوصف عن درك واصف

ويا متعالي الوصف عن درك واصف

كما ينبغي للوحدة الصفتية

كما ينبغي للوحدة الصفتية

O You whose description is beyond any describer’s grasp,

And O One whose attributes transcend a describer's grasp,

as befits attributive unity;

As befits the oneness of attributes;

ويا متعال عن علو معلل

ويا متعال عن علو معلل

عن الوضع والتركيب والجهتية

عن الوضع والتركيب والجهتية

O You exalted beyond any conditioned elevation,

And O One transcending causally conditioned elevation,

beyond position, composition, and spatial direction;

Beyond position, composition, and directionality;

علوك معلوم كما أنت أهله

علوك معلوم كما أنت أهله

علو جلال وامتلاك وقدرة

علو جلال وامتلاك وقدرة

Your exaltedness is known as You are worthy of it:

Your exaltation is known, as befits You:

an exaltedness of majesty, sovereignty, and power.

An exaltation of majesty, dominion, and power.

فأعل علوي عن تملك فطرة

فأعل علوي عن تملك فطرة

وهمي عن استصحاب كل دنية

وهمي عن استصحاب كل دنية

So raise my ascent above the dominion of natural disposition,

So raise my exaltation beyond the dominion of innate nature,

and my imagination above retaining anything base.

And my aspiration above keeping company with anything base.

يا متعال كل نقص وخسة

يا متعال كل نقص وخسة

لدي إذا ألقيتني تحت خستي

لدي إذا ألقيتني تحت خستي

O You exalted above every deficiency and baseness

O Exalted One, all imperfection and baseness

within me, when You cast me beneath my own baseness;

Are mine if You cast me beneath my own baseness.

وعن مركز الآفات لسني راقياً

وعن مركز الآفات لسني راقياً

إذا أنت لم ترفع مقامي ورتبتي

إذا أنت لم ترفع مقامي ورتبتي

nor can I rise from the very seat of afflictions

And I do not rise from the center of afflictions

if You do not raise my station and rank.

If You do not raise my station and my rank.

ونفسي لو جردتها من شؤونها

ونفسي لو جردتها من شؤونها

سواك تعالت عن سيئات النقيصة

سواك تعالت عن سيئات النقيصة

And my soul—if You stripped it of all its concerns

And my soul, were You to strip it of its concerns

other than You—would rise above the evils of imperfection.

Other than You, would rise above the evils of imperfection.
