ويا قابض الأشياء قبضة قوة

لها السلب والتقدير في كل ذرة

And O You who grasp all things with a grip of might,

to which belong withdrawal and ordainment in every atom;

ويا قابض الابداع في مستقره

نظاماً على غاياته الحكمية

And O You who hold creation in its settled place,

ordered according to its wise purposes;

ويا قباض الأكوان فهي بحمده

مسبحة في القبض تسبيح فطرة

And O mighty Grasper of the worlds, which, in His praise,

glorify Him within His grasp by their very nature;

ويا قابض الألباب من أهل قربه

عن البسط في الأغيار والتبعية

And O You who restrain the minds of those near Him,

from opening out to things other than Him and from dependence;

ويا قابض الأسرار من حيث علمه

بما يقتضي التطوير في البشرية

And O You who withhold secrets in accordance with His knowledge

of what development within humankind requires;

ويا قابض الأرزاق قبض سياسة

ومصلحة منه لنفس مقلة

And O You who withhold sustenance as an act of governance

and a benefit from Him for an impoverished soul;

ويا قابض النعماء مقتاً ونقمة

لمن قابل النعماء بالبطرية

And O You who withdraw blessings in loathing and retribution

for whoever meets blessings with arrogant ingratitude;

ويا قابض الأعمار عند حدودها

ومستأثراً بالبعد والسرمدية

And O You who seize lifespans at their limits,

and reserve remoteness and eternity for Yourself alone;

ويا قابض الأرواح من مودعاتها

لمستودعات الغيب في البرزخية

And O You who take souls from their lodgings,

to the repositories of the unseen in the intermediate state;

بقبضتك الكلية اقبض معاندي

مقيتاً شقياً بين خزي ولعنة

With Your all-encompassing grasp, seize my adversary,

loathsome and wretched, between disgrace and a curse;

وشدد عليه القبض في كل بسطة

اطارته بغياً فوق أهل البسيطة

And tighten Your grasp upon him in every increase in prosperity

that has sent him soaring in tyranny above the people of the earth.
