And O You who are God, inherently All-Aware,

by Your awareness, O God, of every reality,

You have known, my God, the essence of every contingent being,

just as You willed it into being from nonexistence.

And whatever awareness there may be, through some cause

    arises anew—except for eternal awareness.

For there is nothing still or moving in creation

that was not chosen by You from all eternity.

And what need have I to set forth my state, when that state is inborn,

and You, my God, know my innate nature?

Yes, setting forth my state is a quest for pasture from my resting places

to You, and a duty among the duties of servanthood.

You called me, amid affliction, to the spaciousness of prayer,

so in my straitened anguish You drove me toward my relief.

For You, O Lord, know every atom of

my affliction, my humble pleading, my staying and my quest for pasture.

You watched over my suffering, O All-Aware, with mercy

and gentleness, before I had emerged from nonexistence.

And You know what I do and what I leave undone,

and what was within my knowledge and what eluded my awareness.

    My God, You have fathomed the essence of my worlds;

so be my help in such obedience as pleases You.
