And O Bringer of Harm, benefit turns away from whomever You intend

to harm; removing harm is the prerogative of the Godhead.

You inflict harm; none seeking to alter it can prevail over You,

nor can the afflicted shield himself against You with any defense.

    وذلك عدل سابق في القضية

    You inflict harm as recompense and as a trial, as You will;

and that is justice, settled beforehand in the decree.

And the servant's questioning of his Lord's action has no

place; yet God's word has come true.

Nor does harm arise from us through a power

belonging independently to the self, apart from a prior power.

I have disavowed all might, power, and strength

save God's, in benefit and in any harm.

Harm is through You, benefit from You; and wisdom has required

that events arise through causal powers.

    ولكنها آثار فعل وقوة

    The powers of causes have no agency of their own;

but they are effects of action and power.

My God, I have submitted to judgment, accepting

Your decree, seeking refuge in the stronghold of Your will.

Through You I have dispelled the harm that touched me, for

I knew with certainty: God is the reliever of my distress.

And seize with grievous harm a soul that dares

defy God—in the blink of an eye—with the mightiest seizure.
