to Your essence, nor through the protection of a supporting arm.

My God, exalted in attributes beyond a seeker's grasp,

O God, Honored in description, beyond the grasp of the seeker

beyond the escape of anything You seek, and any weakening of might.

And missing what is sought and the weakness of might

عن الحال والاكداء والحولية

عن الحال والاكداء والحولية

My God, exalted in abiding, bounty, and eternity,

O God, Transcendent of attributes and everlasting existence

beyond changing states, any end to giving, and the measure of years.

Beyond states, insistence, and transience

الهي عزيز الملك والأمر والغنى

الهي عزيز الملك والأمر والغنى

عن الضد والتعكيس والعوزية

عن الضد والتعكيس والعوزية

My God, mighty in sovereignty, command, and self-sufficiency,

O God, Possessor of dominion, command, and riches

beyond any rival, reversal, or need.

Beyond opposites, reversal, and need

الهي عزيز الحكم قطعاً عن البدا

الهي عزيز الحكم قطعاً عن البدا

وجرح وعن تعديل كل قضية

وجرح وعن تعديل كل قضية

My God, exalted in judgment, utterly beyond any change of mind,

O God, Whose judgment is absolute, beyond objection

or challenge, or amendment of any decree.

Or amendment of any case

الهي عزيز الركن والجار والحمى

الهي عزيز الركن والجار والحمى

جليل العُلى والقدر والكنفية

جليل العُلى والقدر والكنفية

My God, mighty are Your stronghold, Your protégé, and Your sanctuary;

O God, Pillar and neighbor of refuge, grand

majestic are Your sublimity, rank, and sheltering care.

In highest glory, destiny, and care

منيع الذرى من عاذ منك بمنعة

منيع الذرى من عاذ منك بمنعة

My God, mighty in subjugation, victory, and overwhelming force;

O God, Irresistible in might, conquest, and authority

Your heights are impregnable—who can find refuge from You in any defense?

Impregnable in ability to give refuge against You through refuge

أعوذ بجنب العز والضيم محدق

بذلي فقم لي يا عزيز بغيرة

بذلي فقم لي يا عزيز بغيرة

I seek refuge at might's side while oppression closes in

I seek refuge in the side of might and destruction threatens me

upon my lowliness; rise for me, O Mighty One, with protective zeal.

So stand for me, O Mighty One, in zeal

لوجهي فكن لي يا عزيز بغيبتي

I seek refuge in might's bounty while poverty grinds

I seek refuge in the height of might while poverty threatens my face

my face into the dust; stand by me, O Mighty One, in my absence.

So be for me, O Mighty One, in my absence

قواي فأيد يا عزيز لعزتي

I seek refuge in might's mastery while the adversary overcomes

I seek refuge in the conquest of might while the adversary overpowers me

my strength; so aid me, O Mighty One, for my honor.

So support me, O Mighty One, for my honor

بعزتك العظمى اكسني عز ذلتي

اليك ولا تجعل لغيرك ذلتي

By Your supreme might, clothe me in the honor of my humility
