And O Creator of all that exists, its Maker beyond

O Creator of existence, who originated it without speech

dispute—created beings have none besides Him.

Apart from anything else for humankind

برأتهم من غير شيء معلل

برأتهم من غير شيء معلل

فما الحل والتوليد في أي نشأة

فما الحل والتوليد في أي نشأة

You created them from no causally conditioned thing;

You absolved them without any justification

what place, then, have dissolution and generation in any origination?

So what is the solution and origination in any genesis?

وما الحل والتوليد إلا تسلسل

وما الحل والتوليد إلا تسلسل

ودور وإلا لاختيار وقدرة

ودور وإلا لاختيار وقدرة

Dissolution and generation are nothing but infinite regress

What is the solution and origination but sequence

and circularity—or else they stem from choice and power.

And cycle, otherwise it's by choice and destiny

وفي شاهد التطوير أنك موجد

وفي شاهد التطوير أنك موجد

مجرد ايجاد من العدمية

مجرد ايجاد من العدمية

And transformation bears witness that You bring into being

And in the evidence of evolution, You are the Originator

by sheer creation out of nonexistence.

Merely originating from nothingness

تعاليت انشأت الوسائط حكمة

تعاليت انشأت الوسائط حكمة

فما أثر الموسوط فعل الوسيطة

فما أثر الموسوط فعل الوسيطة

Exalted are You! In wisdom You created intermediaries;

You transcended, created intermediaries in wisdom

thus, the effect on what is mediated is not the intermediary’s doing.

So what is the effect of the intermediary, the act of the intermediator?

فما الفعل والتأثير والأمر والقضا

فما الفعل والتأثير والأمر والقضا

تضاف لغير الحضرة البارئية

تضاف لغير الحضرة البارئية

For neither action, nor causation, nor command, nor decree

So what are the act, effect, command and decree

is attributed to any but the Creator’s Presence.

Attributed to other than Your creative presence?

وذات الهيولي فطرة بابتداعه

وذات الهيولي فطرة بابتداعه

وليس لها في الخلق ذرة شركة

وليس لها في الخلق ذرة شركة

And prime matter’s very essence is fashioned by His originating act,

And the essence of matter is inherently innovated by You

and has not an atom’s share in creation.

And has no shred of partnership in creation

تعاليت تحتاج الهيولي لباريء

له واجب التأثير والقدمية

له واجب التأثير والقدمية

Exalted are You! Prime matter needs a Creator

You transcended, matter requires a Creator

to whom causal power and beginninglessness necessarily belong.

To whom belong the obligation of effect and eternity

وجوب وجود الباريء الحق ملزم

وجوب وجود الباريء الحق ملزم

له الاقتدار المحض في الفاعلية

له الاقتدار المحض في الفاعلية

The necessity of the true Creator’s existence entails

The obligation of the existence of the True Creator binds

His absolute power to act.

To Him belongs absolute potency in agency

تبرأت من حول الحوادث مطلقاً

تبرأت من حول الحوادث مطلقاً

وأفنيتها في الحضرة الأحدية

وأفنيتها في الحضرة الأحدية

I utterly disavowed the power of created things,

You have absolved Yourself completely from the accidents

and effaced them in the Presence of absolute Oneness.

And made them cease in the One Essence

وجردت أسراري لباريء عالمي

وجردت أسراري لباريء عالمي

به من علاقاتي وآفات فطرتي

به من علاقاتي وآفات فطرتي

And for my world’s Creator I stripped my inmost depths,

And I unveiled my secrets to my Creator

through Him, of my attachments and my nature’s flaws.

By whom my relations and innate vices were created
