يهتزُّ شوقي إلى لقاهُ

Whenever I remember my Lord,

Indeed, whenever I remember the Lord,

my longing trembles to meet Him.

بذِكرِ ربّي جلّ ثناهُ

I sought my true life, and my heart shone

ما ذاقَ طعم الغرام إلّا

من عرفَ الوصلَ أو دراهُ

None has tasted the savor of passionate love

save one who has known union, or understood it.

يا قوزَ قوم باللَه فزوا

يا قوزَ قوم باللَه فزوا

فلم يروا في الورى سواه

فلم يروا في الورى سواه

O the triumph of a people who, by God, attained victory:

O the [triumph] of a people who [triumphed] through God!

they saw none among creation but Him.

So they saw none among created beings but Him.

قرّبهُم منهُ فاجتباهم

قرّبهُم منهُ فاجتباهم

فنزّهوا الفِكر في عُلاهُ

فنزّهوا الفِكر في عُلاهُ

He drew them near to Himself, then chose them,

He drew them near to Himself, then chose them.

so they purified their thought in His sublime heights.

So they let their thought roam in His sublimity.

ليسَ لهم للسوى التفاتٌ

ليسَ لهم للسوى التفاتٌ

كيفَ وقد شاهدوا سناهُ

كيفَ وقد شاهدوا سناهُ

They pay no heed to anything other than Him—

They pay no heed to anything other than Him.

how could they, when they have beheld His radiance?

How could they, having already beheld His radiance?

أزالَ حُجبَ الغِطاء عنهُم

أزالَ حُجبَ الغِطاء عنهُم

فاستنشقوا نفحةَ هواهُ

فاستنشقوا نفحةَ هواهُ

He removed from them the veiling curtains,

He removed the veils of concealment from them,

and they breathed in a waft of His love.

So they breathed in a waft of His love.

تجلّى بالنور والبهاء

تجلّى بالنور والبهاء

لهُم فقالوا يا هو يا هو

لهُم فقالوا يا هو يا هو

He manifested Himself in light and splendor

to them, and they cried, “O He! O He!”

To them; then they said, 'O He! O He!'

فقال إنّي لكُم محبٌّ

ربٌّ كريمٌ نعمَ الإلهُ

Then He said, “Indeed, I am loving toward you,

a generous Lord—how excellent a God!

ألملكُ ملكي والأمرُ أمري

أنتُم عيدي والجاهُ جاهُ

Sovereignty is Mine, and command is My command;

Dominion is Mine, and command is Mine.

you are My feast, and glory is glory.

You are My festival, and honor is honor.

ألجودُ جودي والفضل فضلي

ألجودُ جودي والفضل فضلي

أنا الذي يرتَجى عطاهُ

أنا الذي يرتَجى عطاهُ

Generosity is My generosity, and grace My grace;

Generosity is Mine, and bounty is Mine.

I am the One whose gifts are hoped for.

I am the One whose gift is hoped for.

أقبلُ من تابَ من عبادي

أقبلُ من تابَ من عبادي

ولا أُبالي بما جناهُ

ولا أُبالي بما جناهُ

I receive whichever of My servants repents,

I accept whoever repents among My servants,

and I heed not what he has committed.

And I care not what he has committed.

ألحبُّ حبي والقرب قربي

ألحبُّ حبي والقرب قربي

والعزُّ عزي فادخل حماهُ

والعزُّ عزي فادخل حماهُ

Love is My love, and nearness My nearness;

Love is Mine, and nearness is Mine.

might is My might—so enter His sanctuary.

And glory is Mine, so enter its sanctuary.

قلبكَ متع بكأس شربي

قلبكَ متع بكأس شربي

طرفكَ نزه بما تراهُ

طرفكَ نزه بما تراهُ

Delight your heart with a cup of My drink;

Delight your heart with a cup of My drink.

let your gaze take pleasure in what you see.

Refresh your gaze with what you see.

وانظر به نظرَة اعتبار

وانظر به نظرَة اعتبار

في أرضِ مولاكَ أو سماهُ

في أرضِ مولاكَ أو سماهُ

And look upon it with a contemplative gaze,

And with it cast a reflective glance

through your Master’s earth or His heaven.”
