يا من علا فرأى ما في القلوب وما

تحت الثرى وظلام الليل مندلُ

تحت الثرى وظلام الليل مندلُ

O You, exalted on high, who see what dwells within hearts and what lies

O You who are exalted and see what is in hearts and what lies

beneath the earth, while night’s darkness steals onward;

beneath the earth, while night's darkness hangs down [wording uncertain].

أنتَ المغيثُ لمن ضاقَت مذاهبهُ

أنتَ المغيثُ لمن ضاقَت مذاهبهُ

أنتَ الدليلُ لمن ضاقَت به الحيلُ

أنتَ الدليلُ لمن ضاقَت به الحيلُ

You are the rescuer of those whose avenues have narrowed;

You are the rescuer of one whose paths have narrowed.

You are the guide of those whose every recourse has failed them.

You are the guide of one whose means have failed him.

إنّا قصدناك والآمالُ واثقةٌ

إنّا قصدناك والآمالُ واثقةٌ

والكلُّ يدعوك ملهوف ومبتهِلُ

والكلُّ يدعوك ملهوف ومبتهِلُ

We have turned to You, our hopes full of confidence,

Indeed, we have sought You, and our hopes are full of trust.

and everyone calls upon You, distressed and beseeching.

And everyone calls upon You, distressed and pleading.

فإن غفَرت فَذو فضلٍ وذو كرَمٍ

فإن غفَرت فَذو فضلٍ وذو كرَمٍ

وإن سطَرتَ فأنتَ الحاكم العادِلُ

وإن سطَرتَ فأنتَ الحاكم العادِلُ

If You forgive, Yours are grace and generosity;

So if You forgive, You are full of grace and generosity.

and if You record our sins, You are the just Judge.

And if You write it down, You are the just Judge.
