O delight of the eyes, by God, indeed I
O comfort of my eyes, by God I swear

لقدindeed نبتتhas sprouted فيin القلبِthe heart منكمfrom you محبّةlove
لقد نبتت في القلبِ منكم محبّة
كماjust as نبتتhave sprouted فيin الراحتينthe two palms الأصابِعُthe fingers
كما نبتت في الراحتين الأصابِعُ
Love for you has indeed sprouted in my heart,
In my heart love for you has sprouted
Just as fingers have sprouted from both palms.
As fingers sprout on the palms of hands
حرامٌforbidden علىto قلبيmy heart محبّةُlove of غيركُمanyone but you
حرامٌ على قلبي محبّةُ غيركُم
كماjust as حرمَتwere forbidden عنfrom موسىMoses تلكthose المراضعُthe wet nurses
كما حرمَت عن موسى تلك المراضعُ
Love for anyone but you is forbidden to my heart,
