ياO منyou who لاnot ذاقtasted سكرthe intoxication of طعمthe taste of المحبَّهlove
يا من لا ذاق سكر طعم المحبَّه
ولاnor ربّاهreared him بالذوقthrough tasting ولاnor تربيwas nurtured
ولا ربّاه بالذوق ولا تربي
O you who have never tasted the intoxication of love's savor,
O you who have not tasted the sweetness of love's taste
Nor been reared through tasting, nor nurtured,
Nor was nurtured by refinement, nor brought up gently
ولاnor ناداهcalled him ساقٍa cupbearer ولاnor قطever ليfor me
ولا ناداه ساقٍ ولا قط لي
ولاnor شهدwitnessed لذَّةthe delight of المشاهدthe visions
ولا شهد لذَّة المشاهد
Nor been called by a cupbearer—nor ever for me [unclear wording],
Nor was called upon by a leg, nor ever saw my hand
Nor witnessed the delight of visions:
Nor witnessed the bliss of visions
أفِقawaken كمhow many مملوكa bondsman
أفِق كم مملوك
فيat بابthe gate of الممالكthe kingdoms
في باب الممالك
Awake! How many a bondsman
Awaken, so many possessed
At the gate of kingdoms!
At the door of kingdoms
المبunclear in source وانفand cast off الشكومthe bridles (uncertain) تترقّyou ascend ذاthis الودادlove
المب وانف الشكوم تترقّ ذا الوداد
لمنfor whoever عرفknows مولاهhis Master المدَدaid! المددaid!
لمن عرف مولاه المدَد المدد
[Unclear word], and cast off the bridles [uncertain]; ascend in this love.
Love and intimacy grow for the beloved
For whoever knows his Master—aid, aid!
For those who know their Master, help comes again and again
اياO رسولَMessenger of اللَهGod
ايا رسولَ اللَه
أياO حبيبBeloved of اللَهGod
أيا حبيب اللَه
O Messenger of God!

اعرفknow تعرِفyou will know بمعرفةِthrough knowledge of المواليthe masters
اعرف تعرِف بمعرفةِ الموالي
وتواضعand humble yourself لوeven if تكُنyou are فيin المعاليthe heights
وتواضع لو تكُن في المعالي
Know, and you will know through knowledge of the masters.
Know and recognize with the gnosis of loyals
And humble yourself, even if you are in the heights.
And be humble though you may be in high stations
عسىmay تَبلُغyou attain ماwhat بلغتattained الرجالthe men
عسى تَبلُغ ما بلغت الرجال
وتتحقَّقand attain realization بحقائقthrough the truths of كلevery واليspiritual guardian
وتتحقَّق بحقائق كل والي
May you attain what the men have attained,
Hopefully you reach what the men reached
And attain realization through the truths of every spiritual guardian.
And ascertain the realities of every saint
تلكthat هذاthis الطريقthe path
تلك هذا الطريق
يسطعshines forth نوركyour light شريقradiant
يسطع نورك شريق
That is this path [unclear wording].
This is the path
Your light shines radiantly.
Your light shines bright
وباللَهand through God التوفيقsuccess تعطىare granted لكto you الأسرارthe mysteries
وباللَه التوفيق تعطى لك الأسرار
لمنfor whoever عرفknows مولاهhis Master المدَدaid! المددaid!
لمن عرف مولاه المدَد المدد
And through God comes success; the mysteries are granted to you.
And with God comes success, mysteries are given to you
For whoever knows his Master—aid, aid!
For those who know their Master help comes again and again
أياO رسولMessenger of اللَهGod
أيا رسول اللَه
أياO حبيبَBeloved of اللهGod
أيا حبيبَ الله
O Messenger of God!
O Messenger of God

اطبعmold طبعكyour nature بطبايعafter the natures of أهلthe people of العنايَةdivine care
اطبع طبعك بطبايع أهل العنايَة
وأحسنand improve ظنَّكyour opinion يعودbecomes قلبُكyour heart مرايَةa mirror
وأحسن ظنَّك يعود قلبُك مرايَة
Shape your nature after the natures of those under divine care.
Imprint your nature with the qualities of the people of care
And think well; your heart will become a mirror.
And think well of Him, your heart becomes a mirror
منكَfrom you وفيكand within you يسطعshines forth نورُthe light of الولايَةsainthood
منكَ وفيك يسطع نورُ الولايَة
ترفَعyou lift تنكthose (uncertain) الظلالthe shadows تسعدrejoice بكin you السعودthe lucky stars
ترفَع تنك الظلال تسعد بك السعود
From you and within you shines the light of sainthood.
From you and in you shines the light of sainthood
You lift those shadows [uncertain reading]; the lucky stars rejoice in you.
You raise, your shadows disappear, joy comes through you
تسودgain mastery بكthrough you الأسودthe lions
تسود بك الأسود
تشاهدyou behold المعبودthe Worshipped One
تشاهد المعبود
The lions gain mastery through you.
Through you the black turns blessed
You behold the Worshipped One.
You witness the Worshipped
فيin العدمnonbeing والوجودand being تترقيّyou ascend الودادlove
في العدم والوجود تترقيّ الوداد
لمنfor whoever عرفknows مولاهhis Master ألمددaid! ألمددaid!
لمن عرف مولاه ألمدد ألمدد
In nonbeing and being, you ascend in love.
In nothingness and existence, love for the Beloved progresses
For whoever knows his Master—aid, aid!
For those who know their Master help comes again and again
أياO رسولMessenger of اللَهGod
أيا رسول اللَه
أياO حبيبBeloved of اللَهGod
أيا حبيب اللَه
O Messenger of God!

ياO محمّدMuhammad سارتjourneyed لكfor you النياقthe she-camels
يا محمّد سارت لك النياق
ياO محمّدMuhammad ركبتَyou rode ظهرthe back of البُراقBuraq
يا محمّد ركبتَ ظهر البُراق
O Muhammad, the she-camels have journeyed for you.
O Muhammad, glories set out for you
O Muhammad, you rode upon Buraq's back.
O Muhammad, you rode the Buraq
شاهدتyou beheld اللَهGod بالعيونwith the eyes بالعيونwith the eyes
شاهدت اللَه بالعيون بالعيون
نطقَتspoke لكto you الأحجارthe stones سجدَتprostrated themselves لكbefore you الأشجارthe trees
نطقَت لك الأحجار سجدَت لك الأشجار
You beheld God with your eyes, with your eyes.
You witnessed God with your eyes, with your eyes
The stones spoke to you; the trees prostrated themselves before you.
The stones spoke to you, the trees bowed to you
شقتsplit asunder لكfor you الأقمارthe moons
شقت لك الأقمار
نورُكyour light عمّencompassed الأقطارthe lands
نورُك عمّ الأقطار
The moons split asunder for you.
The moons split for you
Your light encompassed all lands.
Your light covered all regions
نورُكyour light الكلُّeverything ذاthis سريmy secret هذاthis بداbecame manifest
نورُك الكلُّ ذا سري هذا بدا
لمنfor whoever عرفknows مولاهhis Master المددaid! المددaid!
لمن عرف مولاه المدد المدد
Your light is everything; this is my secret—this has become manifest.
Your light, all this is a mystery that appeared
For whoever knows his Master—aid, aid!
For those who know their Master help comes again and again
