When I asked Khaliʿa for her hand,
When I proposed to an unchaste soul
Khaliʿa said, “I see you have no wealth.”
She said, "I see you have nothing for me"

“My generosity, O Khaliʿa, has consumed my wealth,

Indeed, by your grandfather, had you witnessed my stands
If you had witnessed my battles

On the slopes the day heroes were crowned
