أباO father of خالدٍKhālid ركنيmy pillar ومنand the one أناI عبدُهhis servant
لقدindeed غالنيtreacherously wronged me الأعداءُthe enemies عمداًdeliberately لتغضباso that you grow angry
O Abū Khālid, my pillar and the one whose servant I am,
The foes have indeed treacherously wronged me, deliberately, to make you angry.
فإنso if كنتُI had قلتI said اللذwhat أتاكcame to you بهwith it العداthe foes
فشلّتthen may … be paralyzed يديmy hand اليمنىthe right وأصبحتand may I become أغضباmaimed
So if I said what the foes brought you,
Then may my right hand be paralyzed, and may I become maimed.
ولاand may … not زِلتُI cease محمولاًlaid عليَّupon me بليَّةٌa calamity
وأمسيتُand may I be by evening شلواًa carcass للسّباعfor beasts of prey مُتَرَّباdust-covered
And may I never cease to have calamity laid upon me,
And by evening may I be a dust-covered carcass for beasts of prey.
فلاso do not تَسمعَنever heed قولَthe words of العداthe foes وتبيَّنَنand examine carefully
أباO father of خالدٍKhālid عذراًan excuse وإنeven if كنتَyou are مغضِباangry
So do not heed the foes’ words, and carefully consider,
O Abū Khālid, an excuse, even if you are angry.
