أباO father of خالدٍKhalid ركنيmy pillar ومنand the one أناI عبدُهhis servant
لقدindeed غالنيtreacherously harmed me الأعداءُthe enemies عمداًdeliberately لتغضباso that you become angry
O Abu Khalid, my pillar, whose servant I am,
Oh Abu Khalid support me though I'm your slave
The enemies have indeed treacherously harmed me, intending to anger you.
The enemies have certainly wronged me to make you angry
فإنso if كنتُI had قلتsaid اللذthat which أتاكcame to you بهwith it العداthe foes
فشلّتthen may ... be palsied يديmy hand اليمنىthe right وأصبحتand may you become أغضباangrier
If I said what the foes have reported to you,
If I said what pleased you but the enemies brought it to you
Then may my right hand be palsied, and may you grow angrier still.
Then may my right hand be paralyzed and I become angry
ولاand never زِلتُmay I cease محمولاًburdened عليَّupon me بليَّةٌan affliction
وأمسيتُand may I end the day شلواًa carcass للسّباعfor beasts of prey مُتَرَّباdust-covered
And may affliction never cease to be laid upon me,
And I continued to be afflicted with misfortune
And may I end the day a dust-covered carcass for beasts of prey.
And in the evening I became mutilated prey for the beasts
فلاso do not تَسمعَنever heed قولَthe words of العداthe foes وتبيَّنَنand carefully ascertain
أباO father of خالدٍKhalid عذراًan excuse وإنeven if كنتَyou are مغضِباangry
So do not heed the foes’ words; carefully consider,
So do not listen to the words of the enemy and be clear
Abu Khalid, my excuse, even if you are angry.
Oh Abu Khalid, excuse me even if you are angry
