أباO father of خالدٍKhalid ركنيmy pillar ومنand the one who أناI عبدُهhis servant
لقدindeed غالنيtreacherously harmed me الأعداءُthe enemies عمداًdeliberately لتغضباso that you become angry
O Abu Khalid, my pillar and the one whose servant I am,
Indeed, the enemies have treacherously harmed me, deliberately, to make you angry.
فإنfor if كنتُI had قلتI said اللذthat which أتاكcame to you بهwith it العداthe foes
فشلّتthen may it be paralyzed يديmy hand اليمنىthe right وأصبحتand may I become أغضباangrier
For if I said what the foes brought you,
Then may my right hand be paralyzed, and may I become angrier;
ولاand never زِلتُI cease to be محمولاًburdened عليَّupon me بليَّةٌan affliction
وأمسيتُand may I become by evening شلواًa torn carcass للسّباعfor beasts of prey مُتَرَّباcovered with dust
And may I remain forever burdened with affliction,
And may evening find me a dust-covered carcass for beasts of prey.
فلاso do not تَسمعَنyou heed قولَthe words of العداthe foes وتبيَّنَنand consider carefully
أباO father of خالدٍKhalid عذراًan excuse وإنand even if كنتَyou are مغضِباangry
So do not heed the enemies’ words, and consider carefully,
O Abu Khalid, my excuse, even if you are angry.
