ثلاثٌ يصيرُ الحرّ فيها مشرفاً

ثلاثٌ يصيرُ الحرّ فيها مشرفاً

ويكرمُ في الأخرى بهنَّ وفي الدهرِ

ويكرمُ في الأخرى بهنَّ وفي الدهرِ

There are three things by which a freeborn man is ennobled;

Three things make the free man exalted,

through them he is honored in the Hereafter and in this life:

And through them he is honored in the Hereafter and through the ages:

فدينٌ وعلمٌ ثم مال يحوزه

فدينٌ وعلمٌ ثم مال يحوزه

وتنفعُه في حلّه طيب الأجرِ

وتنفعُه في حلّه طيب الأجرِ

faith, learning, then wealth that he possesses—

Religion and knowledge, then wealth he possesses;

and when that wealth is lawful, it benefits him with a goodly reward.

And the goodness of the reward benefits him in his abode.
