وَالخَطُّ خَيطُ فَرائِدِ الحِكَمِ
Writing is a tether for straying words.
Books are the mind of wandering words
And script is a thread for wisdom's precious pearls.
And the line is the thread of wise sayings
بِالخَطِّthrough script نُظِّمَwas strung together كُلُّall مُنتَثِرٍthat is scattered
بِالخَطِّ نُظِّمَ كُلُّ مُنتَثِرٍ
مِنهاof them وَفُصِّلَand was set out in detail كُلُّall مُنتَظِمِthat is ordered
مِنها وَفُصِّلَ كُلُّ مُنتَظِمِ
Through script are strung all the scattered pearls
Through lines, all that's scattered is organized
Of wisdom, and all that is ordered is set out in detail.
And all that's organized is detailed

And the sword, whose standing you know,
The sword, you know where it belongs
Is duty-bound to worship the pen.
Is duty bound to worship the pen
