أَتَراكَ تَسمَحُ بِالنَوا
لِcompletion of 'gifts' وَأَنتَwhile you تَبخُلُyou are stingy بِالسَلامِwith a greeting
لِ وَأَنتَ تَبخُلُ بِالسَلامِ
Would you really be generous with gifts,
Will you let the breeze blow
while you are stingy with a greeting?
While you’re stingy with your greetings?
لاdo not توحِشُyou alienate النَفرَthe company of men الكِراthe noble (word continued)
لا توحِشُ النَفرَ الكِرا
مَcompletion of 'noble' فَأَنتَfor you are مِنamong نَفَرٍa company of men كِرامِnoble
مَ فَأَنتَ مِن نَفَرٍ كِرامِ
Do not alienate noble men,
Don’t spurn the generous people,
for you are of noble company.
You’re of a generous tribe yourself.
قَدindeed ضَلَّhas gone astray مَنwhoever لاnot يَشتَريbuys
قَد ضَلَّ مَن لا يَشتَري
وَدَّthe affection الأَكارِمِof the noble بِالكَلامِwith words
وَدَّ الأَكارِمِ بِالكَلامِ
He has indeed gone astray who does not buy
Lost is he who doesn’t buy
the affection of the noble with words.
The love of the noble with kind words.
