    With swaying hips and a slender waist,

    Supple of frame, so soft he almost knots himself.

    Luxury labored for him, and his breast bore

    Fruit that adorned us when fruits grew sweet.

    فَاِفتَنَّ حُسنُ عُيونِهِنَّ فُتونا

    No—by the tame gazelles, when they gaze,

    And their eyes’ beauty works manifold enchantments;

    نُحنَ لَطائِماً أَو مِلنَ مِلنَ غُصونا

    If they appear, they appear as stars; or if they face you,

    They face you as pearls; or if they sway, they sway as boughs;

    And they dart toward you from languid eyes,

    They clothe your heart in enchantment through languor.

    I have not betrayed the pledge of love I dedicated to you,

    And a man of honor is never treacherous.
