مَنwhoever كانَwas عَنكَfrom you مُغَيَّباًkept away
مَن كانَ عَنكَ مُغَيَّباً
أَسلاكَmade you forget عَنهُabout him مَغيبُهُhis absence
أَسلاكَ عَنهُ مَغيبُهُ
Whoever is absent from you,
Whoever was absent from you
his absence makes you forget him.
His absence made him absent from you
وَإِذاand when تَطاوَلَgrew long هَجرُهُhis estrangement
وَإِذا تَطاوَلَ هَجرُهُ
نُسِيَwas forgotten اللِقاءُthe meeting وَطيبُهُand its sweetness
نُسِيَ اللِقاءُ وَطيبُهُ
And when his estrangement grows long,
And if his estrangement was prolonged
the meeting and its sweetness are forgotten.
The sweetness of the meeting was forgotten
لاnot يُكذَبَنَّbe lied to (emphatic) فَإِنَّهُfor indeed it is the case that
لا يُكذَبَنَّ فَإِنَّهُ
مَنwhoever غابَwas absent غابَwas absent نَصيبُهُhis share
مَن غابَ غابَ نَصيبُهُ
Let no one be deceived, for the truth is:
It should not be denied, for verily
whoever is absent, his share is absent too.
Whoever was absent, his share was absent
