هَذا حَبيبٌ وَصولُ

هَذا حَبيبٌ وَصولُ

وَذا رَقيبٌ صَرومُ

وَذا رَقيبٌ صَرومُ

This is my beloved, warm and yielding;

This is a beloved who grants union,

and this my watcher, harsh and stern.

And this, a stern watcher;

وَذاكَ شَرخُ شَبابٍ

وَذاكَ شَرخُ شَبابٍ

أَغَرُّ وَهوَ بَهيمُ

أَغَرُّ وَهوَ بَهيمُ

And that is my youth in its prime,

And that is the prime of youth,

bright-blazed, though black as night.

Radiant, though it is pitch-dark;

وَقَهوَةٌ وَغِناءُ

وَقَهوَةٌ وَغِناءُ

وَسامِرٌ وَنَديمُ

وَسامِرٌ وَنَديمُ

And there is wine, and there is song,

And wine and song,

an evening companion and a boon companion.

And an evening companion and a drinking companion.

فَخُذ نَصيبُكَ مِنهُ

فَخُذ نَصيبُكَ مِنهُ

فَلَيسَ شَيءٌ يَدومُ

فَلَيسَ شَيءٌ يَدومُ

So take your share of it,

So take your share of it,

for nothing ever lasts.
