ثُمَّthen اِنثَنَيناwe turned إِلىto خُضرٍgreen plants مُنَعَّمَةٍtender
كَأَنَّas though أَوراقَهاtheir leaves آذانُears جُرذانِof rats
Then we turned to tender green plants,
As though their leaves were rats' ears;
وَقَهوَةٌand wine كَجَنيِّlike freshly gathered الوَردِroses وَشَّحَهُadorned it
مِنof لُؤلُؤِpearls القَطرِof raindrops وَالأَنداءِand dew سِمطانِtwo strands
And wine like freshly gathered roses, which were adorned
By two strands of pearls of raindrops and dew.
