The people of this world have grown alike: their nobles have no loyalty,
The sons of this world are all alike: their nobleman has no
nor do their lowly possess any sense of honor.
loyalty, nor does the base man have a sense of honor.

They are gentle toward those whose patient restraint they fear,
They are gentle toward one whose forbearance they fear,
but harsh toward those from whom they feel safe.
but harsh toward those they feel safe from.

I am vexed by the evil deeds they commit,
the forbearing man, among the foolish, is provoked.
and a man of forbearance is vexed among the ignorant.
