تَبدوappears المَجَرَّةَthe Milky Way مُنجَرٌّtrailing ذَوائِبُهاits tresses
تَبدو المَجَرَّةَ مُنجَرٌّ ذَوائِبُها
كَالماءِlike water يَنساحُspreads out أَوor كَالأَيمِlike a serpent يَنسابُglides
كَالماءِ يَنساحُ أَو كَالأَيمِ يَنسابُ
The Milky Way appears with its tresses trailing,
Like water spreading out, or a serpent gliding.
وَزَهرَةٌand Venus بِإِزاءِopposite البَدرِthe full moon واقِفَةٌstanding
وَزَهرَةٌ بِإِزاءِ البَدرِ واقِفَةٌ
كَأَنَّهُas though it were غَرَضٌa target يَنحوهُaims at it نَشّابُan archer
كَأَنَّهُ غَرَضٌ يَنحوهُ نَشّابُ
And Venus stands opposite the full moon,
As though it were a target at which an archer aims.
