أخوa man of الإعدامِdestitution لاneither حيٌّa living man يُرَجَّىin whom hope is placed
أخو الإعدامِ لا حيٌّ يُرَجَّى
ولاnor ميتٌa dead man يُريحُbrings relief ويستريحُand finds rest
ولا ميتٌ يُريحُ ويستريحُ
The destitute man is neither alive, that hope might be placed in him,
The destitute man is neither a living man in whom to place hope,
nor dead, to bring relief and himself find rest.
nor a dead man who brings relief and finds rest.
أرىI see الخيراتِgood things فيin الدنياthis world كثيراًin abundance
أرى الخيراتِ في الدنيا كثيراً

ومنها في يد الفُقراءِ ريحُ
I see the good things of this world in abundance,
I see good things in this world in abundance,
and of them, in the poor man’s hand, there is only wind.
and of these, the poor have only wind in their hands.
