سلامٌpeace وإنand although كانَis السلامُthe greeting of peace تحيةًa greeting
سلامٌ وإن كانَ السلامُ تحيةً
فوجهُكَso your face دونَwithout الردِّa reply يكفيsuffices المُسَلِّماthe greeter
فوجهُكَ دونَ الردِّ يكفي المُسَلِّما
Peace! And though peace is a greeting,
Peace be upon you, though a greeting of peace
Your face, without a reply, suffices the greeter.
Your face without a response suffices the one who greets
