أَيَهَذاO you الوَضيعُthe lowly one كَمhow much تَتَنَبَّلyou pretend to be noble
أَيَهَذا الوَضيعُ كَم تَتَنَبَّل
لَوif تَواضَعتَyou humbled yourself كانَit would be أَبهىmore splendid وَأَجمَلand more beautiful
لَو تَواضَعتَ كانَ أَبهى وَأَجمَل
O base wretch, how you affect nobility!
O lowly one, how you put on noble airs!
Had you been humble, it would have been finer and fairer.
If you humbled yourself, it would be more splendid and more beautiful.
أَنتَyou كَلبٌa dog فَلاso do not تَغَسَّلwash yourself كَثيراًmuch
أَنتَ كَلبٌ فَلا تَغَسَّل كَثيراً
يَنجُسُbecomes impure الكَلبُthe dog كُلَّماwhenever يَتَغَسَّلit washes itself
يَنجُسُ الكَلبُ كُلَّما يَتَغَسَّل
You are a dog, so do not wash too often—
You are a dog, so do not wash yourself so much.
a dog becomes impure whenever it bathes.
The dog becomes impure whenever it washes itself.
