تُشبِهُ اللَحظَةَ في اِنتِقالِها
Nuʿm came to me, but her visit
Blessings came, yet a connection
Was like a moment in its passing.
Resembling a moment in its transience.

أَم بِزَورِ الزورِ مِن خَيالِها
I do not know whether I enjoyed her,
I know not if I enjoyed it
Or a false visitation from her phantom.
Or from the vanity of its imagination.
وَمَضىand passed اللَيلُthe night سَريعاًswiftly مِثلَماjust as

أُنشِطَت دَهماءُ مِن عِقالِها
And the night sped by, just as
And the night passed quickly, as
A black she-camel was loosed from her hobble.
A dahma was stirred from its tether.
