لاdo not تَأمَلَنَّever hope for الخَيرَgood فيin الزَمَنِthe age الَّذيwhich
حَلَّsettled اللِئامُthe base بِهِin it مَحَلَّthe place of كِرامِnoble people
Never hope for good in an age in which
the base have taken the place of the noble.
وَمِنَand among البَلِيَةِafflictions أَنthat يَرانيhe sees me دونَهُbeneath him
مَنone who لَيسَis not يَصلُحُis fit أَنto يَكونَbe غُلاميmy servant
And it is an affliction that I am deemed beneath him
by one who is unfit to be my servant.
