By wafts of dung from a servant boy’s mouth:
Breezes of sighs in spring:
لَعَنَmay … curse اللَهُGod لَيلَةًa night بِتُّI spent the night فيهاin it
لَعَنَ اللَهُ لَيلَةً بِتُّ فيها
مَعwith رَفيقيmy companion كَأَنَّناas though we were فيin الكَنيفِthe latrine
مَع رَفيقي كَأَنَّنا في الكَنيفِ
“May God curse the night I spent
