أَحدَقَencircled لَيمونٌlemons بِأُترُجَّةٍaround a citron
أَحدَقَ لَيمونٌ بِأُترُجَّةٍ
كَأَنجُمٍlike stars تُحدِقُcircle بِالبَدرِaround the full moon
كَأَنجُمٍ تُحدِقُ بِالبَدرِ
Lemons have encircled a citron,
A lemon gazed at a nasturtium
Like stars encircling the full moon.
Like stars gazing at the moon
مَخروطَةُlathe-turned الأَجسادِbodies فيin فِضَّةٍsilver
مَخروطَةُ الأَجسادِ في فِضَّةٍ
مُلَبَّساتٍclad in قُمُصَtunics التِبرِuncoined gold
مُلَبَّساتٍ قُمُصَ التِبرِ
Their bodies fashioned in silver,
Conical bodies in silver
Clad in tunics of gold.
Dressed in shirts of musk
قَدhas شَدَّfastened مِنat هاماتِهاtheir crowns زِرُّهاtheir button
قَد شَدَّ مِن هاماتِها زِرُّها
ياoh عَجَباwonder مِنat ذَلِكَthat الزِرِّbutton
يا عَجَبا مِن ذَلِكَ الزِرِّ
Their button has fastened them at their crowns—
She drew her cloak tight
Oh, how wondrous that button!
What a splendid cloak!
إِشرَبdrink عَلَيهاwith them وَتَمَتَّعand delight بِهاin them
إِشرَب عَلَيها وَتَمَتَّع بِها
فَإِنَّهاfor they are مِنamong تُحَفِtreasures الدَهرِtime
فَإِنَّها مِن تُحَفِ الدَهرِ
Drink with them before you, and delight in them,
Drink in her beauty and enjoy
For they are among the treasures of time.
For she is a treasure of time
