إنif كانit is منamong حقِّthe due المودَّةِaffection فيin الهوىlove
أنthat تَصرِمواyou sever حَبلَthe cord التواصُلِfellowship فاصرِمواthen sever
If among affection’s rights in love
If it is part of affection's due in love
is that you sever the bond between us, then sever it.
that you sever the cord of fellowship, then sever it.
ضيعتyou neglected حقthe claim تحرميmy seeking sanctuary بودادكمin your affection
غرnaïve امرؤٌa man بودادكمin your affection يتحرمseeks sanctuary
I forfeited my right to seek sanctuary in your affection;
You have neglected my claim to sanctuary in your affection;
deluded is anyone who seeks sanctuary in your affection.
Naïve is the man who seeks sanctuary in your affection.
وظلمتنيand you wronged me وزعمتand you claimed أنيthat I ظالمٌa wrongdoer
ومنand among العجائبwonders ظالِمٌa wrongdoer متظلمcomplaining of injustice
You wronged me, then claimed that I was the wrongdoer—
And you wronged me and claimed that I was a wrongdoer;
and what a wonder: a wrongdoer crying injustice!
And among wonders is a wrongdoer complaining of injustice.
فلأبعدنso I shall surely withdraw منكمfrom you وباليand my spirit كاسفٌdarkened
ولأصبرنand I shall surely endure عنكمwithout you وأنفيand my nose مُرغَمُrubbed in dust
I shall surely withdraw far from you, my spirit cast down,
So I shall surely withdraw from you, my spirit darkened;
and surely endure being without you, though my nose be ground in dust.
And I shall surely endure without you, my nose rubbed in the dust.
ولوand if استطعتI could جزيتكمI would repay you بفعالكمfor your deeds
لكننيbut I لاnot أستطيعcan فأكظمُso I stifle my anger
If I could, I would repay you in kind for your deeds,
And if I could, I would repay you for your deeds;
but I cannot; therefore I swallow my anger.
But I cannot, so I stifle my anger.
ولعلand perhaps دائرةthe wheel الزمانِof time تدورُturns ليin my favor
حتىuntil تعودَyou return إلىto التيthat which هيit أقومُmost upright
Perhaps the wheel of time will turn in my favor,
And perhaps the wheel of time will turn in my favor,
until it comes back to the course that is more just.
Until you return to the most upright course.
