إِذاif لَمdoes not يُرِدwish خِلٍّa friend إِعانَةَhelping خِلِّهِhis friend
إِذا لَم يُرِد خِلٍّ إِعانَةَ خِلِّهِ
أَتاهُhe comes to him إِذاwhen نابَstrikes المُلِمُّcalamity يُوَبَّخُhe is reproached
أَتاهُ إِذا نابَ المُلِمُّ يُوَبَّخُ
If a friend is unwilling to help his friend,
When a friend refuses to help a friend in need
he comes to him when calamity strikes and is reproached.
He is reproached when misfortune is his meed
