رَكِبتُI rode أَعجازَthe hindquarters of لَيالٍnights مُظلِمَهdark
مُطَرَّزاتٍembroidered بِالصَباحِwith dawn مُعلَمَهbordered
I rode the hindquarters of dark nights,
I rode the backs of darkened nights
Embroidered and bordered with dawn.
Embroidered with daybreak landmarks.
أَخطَرُI stride proudly فيin بُردَتِهاtheir mantle المُسَهَّمَهarrow-patterned
وَالرَوضُand the meadow فيin حُلَّتِهِits robe المُنَمنَمَهfinely patterned
I stride proudly in their arrow-patterned mantle,
I ventured through its perforated chill,
While the meadow wears its finely patterned robe.
And the meadow in its ornamented gown -
قَدhas نَثَرَscattered اللَيلُthe night عَلَيهِupon it أَنجُمَهits stars
وَالنَبتُand the plants قَدhave دَنَّرَهُdecked it with dinars وَدَرهَمَهand decked it with dirhams
Night has scattered its stars upon it,
The night had strewn its stars upon it,
And the plants have decked it with dinars and dirhams.
And vegetation had adorned it with coins.
