I plucked them while dawn was rose-pink at the fringes—
I plucked them while dawn was rosy-fringed:
little globes turned out of gold.
Pellets lathe-turned from gold,
قَدalready ضُمِّنَتwere filled with أَمثالَهاtheir counterparts مِنَof الخَشَبwood

They held within them counterparts made of wood.
Already filled with their counterparts of wood;
And from them wooden pieces came together—strangely.
And wood within them wrapped itself around silver,
وَصارَand became مِنهُfrom it السُمُّpoison حَشواًa filling لِلضَرَبfor white honey

And from it poison became ammunition for striking.
And poison from it became a filling for white honey.
By my life, it is a wonder among wonders.
So, by my life, they are a wonder of wonders.
