I keep company with sorrow, in hardship and in ease;
I keep company with sorrow in hardship and in ease,
As though between sorrow and me lay ties of blood.
As though sorrow and I were bound by ties of kinship.

Truly, a man whose aspiration towers among men
Indeed, a man whose ambition is lofty among people
Sees delight as torment, and plenty as poverty.
Sees joy as heartache and abundance as destitution.
