How long will you persist in coldness,

And fail to honor the rights of friends?

Who can assure me I shall see you act as I do,

So that we may stand equal in affection?

    Indeed, I know everything,

Except the virtue of care and faithfulness.

You are stripped of faithfulness, and that is nothing new,

For you have already been stripped of shame.

So if you return to kindness, well and good; otherwise,

There is benefit only in keeping apart.
