وَيَختِمُand he seals البَرمَةَthe cooking pot وَالجَفنَهand the serving bowl
He feeds his children less than their fill,
He feeds his children without fully satisfying their hunger,
and seals the cooking pot and the serving bowl.
And closes his eyelids though sleep still eludes him,
لَمdid not يَروِrecount إِلّاexcept خَبَراًa saying واحِداًone

He has recounted only a single saying:
He has known only hardship,
“Overeating may carry off one's wits.”
Hunger can defeat wisdom.
