Sol 6.1

  1. وَجامِعَةٍ لِأَصنافِ المَعاني

    صَلَحنَ لِوَقتِ إِكثارٍ وَقِلَّه

    And a collection embracing diverse uses,

    suited to times of plenty and scarcity:

  2. فَمِن أَدَمٍ وَرَيحانٍ وَنُقلٍ

    فَلَم يُرَ مِثلَها سَدّاً لِخِلَّه

    among them, condiments, fragrant herbs, and snacks—

    nothing like it has been seen for meeting a need.

  3. فَإِحداهُنَّ تَبرُزُ في عِباءٍ

    وَأُخراهُنَّ في حِبَرٍ وَحِلَّه

    So one of them emerges in a coarse cloak,

    and another in striped cloth and a fine robe.

  4. وَمِنها ما تُشَبِّهُهُ بُدوراً

    فَإِن قَطَّعتَها رَجِعَت أَهِلَّه

    And among them are some you liken to full moons;

    so if you cut them up, they turn back into crescents.
