    فَيُخبِرُ عَن طيبِ الزَمانِ مَزارُها

    And a visitor visits us every year;

    Her visit thus tells of the season's pleasantness.

    She reports that the air's shirt has grown thin,

    And that the gardens' waistcloth has become embroidered,

    And that the pools' faces are lovely in their whiteness,

    And that the earth's faces dazzle with their greenness.

    فَتَدنو عَلى بُعدٍ مِنَ الشَكلِ دارُها

    She yearns for us, though she is not of our kind;

    So her home draws near, despite the distance in kind.

    So her alighting amid the courtyards delights us,

    And her flight among the dwellings comforts us.

    Her shirt has plundered the light of morning,

    And her veil has won the colors of the nights.

    She cries like the squeaking of brides' sandals,

    Toward whom their Hind and their Nuwar have strolled.

    She lives beside us until her young grow up,

    And her grown ones fulfill the desires of souls.
