لاdo not تَعتَمِدَset out to نَشرَspreading العُيوبِthe faults وَبَثَّهاand broadcasting them
لا تَعتَمِدَ نَشرَ العُيوبِ وَبَثَّها
يَسلَمwill be preserved لَكَfor you الإِخوانُthe brothers وَالأَصحابُand the companions
يَسلَم لَكَ الإِخوانُ وَالأَصحابُ
Do not set out to spread faults and broadcast them;
Do not spread people's faults or circulate them
Then you will keep your brothers and companions.
Your friends and companions will be safe from you
وَاِشدُدand hold fast يَدَيكَyour two hands بِماto one who يَقِلُّhas few مَعابَهُhis faults
وَاِشدُد يَدَيكَ بِما يَقِلُّ مَعابَهُ
ماnot فيهِمamong them مَنanyone who لَيسَis not فيهِin him مُعابُa flaw
ما فيهِم مَن لَيسَ فيهِ مُعابُ
And hold fast with both hands to one whose faults are few;
Restrain yourself from what would give less cause for blame
None among them is without a flaw.
None among them is without fault
