وَمَنAnd whoever لَمdoes not يُوَسِّعmake spacious لِلنَوائِبِfor misfortunes صَدرَهُhis breast
وَمَن لَم يُوَسِّع لِلنَوائِبِ صَدرَهُ
أَفادَتهُthey bring him ضيقاًdistress فيin مَرامٍan aim وَمَذهَبِand a course
أَفادَتهُ ضيقاً في مَرامٍ وَمَذهَبِ
Whoever does not broaden his breast to meet calamities,
And whoever does not make room in his breast for misfortunes—
they bring him straits in every pursuit and path.
They bring him distress in his aims and course.
وَإِنّيAnd indeed I إِذاwhen أَلقَيتُI place بَينيbetween myself وَبَينَهاand between them
وَإِنّي إِذا أَلقَيتُ بَيني وَبَينَها
أَباAbu (father of) طاهِرٍTahir لَمdo not تَدرِknow كَيفَhow تُضِرُّharm بيme
أَبا طاهِرٍ لَم تَدرِ كَيفَ تُضِرُّ بي
And I, whenever I set between myself and them
And indeed, when I place between myself and them
Abu Tahir, they know not how to do me harm.
Abu Tahir, they do not know how to harm me.
