حَمراءُred بَيضاءُwhite فِضِّيَّةٌsilvery
حَمراءُ بَيضاءُ فِضِّيَّةٌ
وَظَرفُand a casing of كافورٍcamphor وَحَشوُand a filling of الخَلوقthe saffron-based perfume
وَظَرفُ كافورٍ وَحَشوُ الخَلوق
Red, white, silvery,
And a casing of camphor and a filling of khalūq perfume.
يُطَوَّفُis made to circulate الدُهنُthe oil بِأَرجائِهِaround its edges
يُطَوَّفُ الدُهنُ بِأَرجائِهِ
إِطافَةَlike the circling of الدَمعِthe tears بِجَفنِaround the eyelid of المَشوقthe yearning one
إِطافَةَ الدَمعِ بِجَفنِ المَشوق
Oil is swirled around its edges,
As tears circle the eyelid of one who yearns.
كَأَنَّماas though اللَوزُthe almonds بِحافّاتِهِat its edges
كَأَنَّما اللَوزُ بِحافّاتِهِ
أَنصافُhalves of دُرٍّpearls رُكِّبَتwere set فيin عَقيقcarnelian
أَنصافُ دُرٍّ رُكِّبَت في عَقيق
As though the almonds at its edges
Were halves of pearls set in carnelian.
