نُصِرتَyou were granted victory عَلىover الأَعداءِthe enemies فَليَهنِكَso may it gladden you النَصرُvictory
وَدانَتand submitted لَكَto you الدُنياthe world وَذَلَّand humbled itself لَكَto you الدَهرُtime
You have been granted victory over your enemies; may victory bring you joy.
And the world has submitted to you, and time has bowed before you.
فَأَنتَfor you are كَإِقبالِlike the coming of الشَبيبَةِyouth وَالصِباand boyhood
تَطيبُgrows pleasant بِكَthrough you الدُنياthe world وَيَنعَمِرُand flourishes العُمرُlife
For you are like the coming of youth and boyhood:

وَلَيسَand are not كِرامُthe noble among الناسِpeople إِلّاexcept كَواكِباًstars
عَلىupon صَفحَتَيthe two expanses of لَيلٍnight وَأَنتَand you لَهُمfor them بَدرُa full moon
And the noble among men are nothing but stars
Upon night's twin expanses, while you are their full moon.
وَفيand among الناسِpeople أَجوادٌgenerous men كَثيرٌmany وَإِنَّماbut only
أُولَئِكَthose أَثمادٌsmall pools وَأَنتَand you لَهُمfor them بَحرُa sea
And among men are many generous souls, yet
Those are only small pools, and you are their sea.
فَإِنso if أَظلَمَgrow dark الأَحداثُcalamities وَاِسوَدَّand turns black لَونُهاtheir hue
فَهُمthen they شَفَقٌtwilight glow فيهاamid them وَأَنتَand you بِهاamid them فَجرُdawn
So if calamities darken and their hue turns black,
Then they are twilight in that darkness, and you are its dawn.
أَباO father of قاسِمٍQasim فَخراًboast عَلىover المَجدِglory وَالعُلاand eminence
فَإِنَّfor indeed العُلاeminence رَوضٌa meadow وَأَنتَand you بِهِin it زَهرُblossoms
O Abu Qasim, boast above glory and eminence,
For eminence is a meadow, and you are its bloom.
غَدَتhas become أَرضُناour land مِنكُمthrough you سَماءًa sky مُظِلَّةًsheltering

Through you our land has become a sheltering sky,
It has bright stars drawn from your radiant virtues.
كَأَنَّكَas though you are فيupon خَدِّthe cheek of الزَمانِtime تَوَرُّدٌa rosy blush
وَفيand in فَمِهِits mouth ضِحكٌlaughter وَفيand upon وَجهِهِits face بِشرُgladness
You are like a rosy blush upon time's cheek,
And laughter in its mouth, and gladness upon its face.
فَمَنso whoever يَكُmay be مَمدوحاًpraised بِنَظمٍby verse نَصوغُهُwe fashion it
فَإِنَّكَthen indeed you مَمدوحٌpraised بِكَthrough you النَظمُverse وَالنَثرُand prose
While others may be praised by verse we fashion,
It is through you that verse and prose are praised.
وَإِنand if يَكُmay be بَعضُsome of الأَكرَمينَthe noblest يَعُقُّنيtreats me unkindly
فَإِنَّكَthen indeed you مَدُّthe tide of البَحرِthe sea إِنif أَخلَفَfails to come القَطرُthe rain
And if some of the noblest treat me unkindly,
For you are the sea's rising tide, should the rain fail.
