I picked them while dawn's fringes were rosy—
pellets lathe-turned from gold,
قَدindeed ضُمِّنَتwere made to contain أَمثالَهاtheir likenesses مِنَof الخَشَبwood
وَاِلتَفَّand wrapped مِنهاwithin them خَشَبٌwood عَلىaround غَرَبsilver
enclosing their likenesses made of wood.
And wood within them wrapped around silver,
وَصارَand became مِنهُfrom it السُمُّpoison حَشواًa filling لِلضَرَبfor white honey
فَهيَso they are لَعَمريby my life عَجَبٌa wonder مِنَamong العَجَبwonders
and poison from it became a filling for white honey.
So, by my life, they are a wonder among wonders.
