تَواضَعBe humble إِذاwhen مَدَّstretches out العَلاءُeminence بِضَبعِهِwith its upper arm
تَواضَع إِذا مَدَّ العَلاءُ بِضَبعِهِ
كَماjust as اِنحَطَّdescends ضَوءُlight البَدرِof the full moon وَاِرتَفَعَand rises البَدرُthe full moon
كَما اِنحَطَّ ضَوءُ البَدرِ وَاِرتَفَعَ البَدرُ
Be humble when eminence stretches out its arm,
Humble yourself when the eminent lower themselves,
Just as the full moon’s light descends while the full moon rises.
As the moonlight descends but the moon ascends.
