وَالغَيمُand the cloud تَأخُذُهُcatches it ريحٌa wind فَتَنفُشُهُthen fluffs it out
وَالغَيمُ تَأخُذُهُ ريحٌ فَتَنفُشُهُ
كَالقُطنِlike cotton يَندُفُis carded مِنfrom زُرقِblue الدَبابيجِbrocades
كَالقُطنِ يَندُفُ مِن زُرقِ الدَبابيجِ
And the cloud—a wind catches it and fluffs it out,
The clouds are taken by the wind which scatters them
like cotton carded from blue brocades.
Like cotton blown from the backs of camels
وَقَهوَةٌand wine مِنfrom يَدِthe hand of المَغنوجِthe coquettish one صافِيَةًclear
وَقَهوَةٌ مِن يَدِ المَغنوجِ صافِيَةً
كَأَنَّهاas though it عُصِرَتwas pressed مِنfrom خَدِّthe cheek of مَغنوجِa coquettish one
كَأَنَّها عُصِرَت مِن خَدِّ مَغنوجِ
And clear wine from the coquettish one's hand,
A coffee from the hand of the loved one, pure
as though pressed from a coquettish one's cheek.
As though it was squeezed from the cheek of the beloved
