وَأُترُجٍّand a citron يَحُفُّcluster بِهاaround it أَقاحٍdaisies
وَأُترُجٍّ يَحُفُّ بِها أَقاحٍ
كَبَدرِlike the full moon اللَيلِof the night تَكنُفُهُsurround it النُجومُthe stars
كَبَدرِ اللَيلِ تَكنُفُهُ النُجومُ
And a citron, ringed by daisies,
And blushing rose embraced by thorns
Like the full moon of night, encircled by stars.
As moon orbited by stars at night
أُحِبُّكِI love you ياO شَبيهَlikeness of الشَمسِthe sun حُبّاًwith a love
أُحِبُّكِ يا شَبيهَ الشَمسِ حُبّاً
تَفَرَّدَstood alone بِالتَمامِin perfection فَلاso no تَمامُperfection
تَفَرَّدَ بِالتَمامِ فَلا تَمامُ
I love you, O likeness of the sun, with a love
I love you, sun-faced one, with love
That alone possesses perfection—no other perfection remains.
That in its fullness has no peer nor plight
