أَلَيسَis it not صَعباًhard أَنto تَرىyou see كاشِحاًa spiteful foe
أَلَيسَ صَعباً أَن تَرى كاشِحاً
مالَكَyou have no بُدٌّescape مِنfrom مُداراتِهِplacating him
مالَكَ بُدٌّ مِن مُداراتِهِ
Is it not hard to see a spiteful foe
Is it not hard to see a tyrant
whom you have no choice but to placate?
You have no choice but to endure his orbits
أَصبَحتُI have come to be فيin دارِthe house إِساءاتِهِhis abuses
أَصبَحتُ في دارِ إِساءاتِهِ
أَعُدُّI count أَنفاسيmy breaths وَساعاتِهِand his hours
أَعُدُّ أَنفاسي وَساعاتِهِ
I now dwell in the house of his abuses;
I have come to reside in the house of his wrongdoings
I count my breaths and his hours.
I count my breaths and his hours
